Thankyou to Shelly’s Cabaret for letting me take part.
Captivating
Captivating
I don’t know how I got here, standing, staring. I think I looked up.
It speaks to me of possibility. Dare to dream.
Where do I want to go today, who do I want to be?
Like the old wardrobe, do I reach out to feel the cool metal of that old latch on my fingertips. I do.
I feel the tension between the lock and its keeper. Nestled like entwined fingers.
As I give a gentle push, I feel a brush of cool air kiss my cheeks, I feel that warm bright light run her fingers down my face. I instinctively lean towards this gesture, seeking, craving that tender touch again.
I close my eyes and feel this moment.
This moment of openness, where anything is possible.
Carefully I raise my knee to the ledge and climb up. I feel the grain of the window sill on my skin and admire its strength.
Sitting in this window I notice my size, it is a tight fit yet one that feels comfortable.
I look out.
I feel it pull. I feel desire to be out there.
Leaning forward slightly I raise my arms out like the wings of a bird and I just believe.
I am not afraid because I know I can.
With that faith I depart, and that gentle breeze carries me away.
I have not gone forever.
I will always come home.

I love this! My favorite line is: "I am not afraid because I know I can." Beautiful. Thanks so much for linking up with Shelly & me. Hope you join us again! 🙂
This is so beautifully written! It makes me want to open a window and just experience the senses you mentioned, like the cool air kissing my cheeks :).
I walk away from this poem feeling peaceful and brave!
