Expat life is not always easy, but it is always an adventure. Making the choice to live in another country, another culture is brave and wonderful. It can also be very stressful, lonely, sad and heartbreaking. One thing is for sure, once you become an expat you change.

Expat Support

Expat life is hard and we all need support. That is what expat support is about here at SaltyBug. But I keep things real, none of this wishy-washy life-is-perfect nonsense. No-one’s life is perfect, it is as good as it gets and often that is our version of perfect. It includes ups, downs, and round and rounds. Get on board and enjoy the ride.

Transitioning into life as a new expat can be really challenging. It isn’t all drinking gin and long lunches – you need to find some friends first before all of that comes along, and even then you may find yourself without the time or the energy to even think about that.

As an expat in the Philippines, one of my goals is to explore as much of this country as I possibly can before we leave. You see expat life is transient and one day we will be moving on. Day Trip Philippines

If you live in Manila, Philippines, you need to get out of the city every once in a while. A day trip is easy to take and there are so many gorgeous places to visit out in the provinces. Day trips are also great when you have guests and need short, fast experiences to add to your itinerary. So, pack up a picnic, pack up your swimmers and your camera and head out of town for a day of adventure.
