Life here can be pretty harsh for some. I struggle with what I see out of my car window. The other day I witnessed something really upsetting.
As an expat in the Philippines, one of my goals is to explore as much of this country as I possibly can before we leave. You see expat life is transient and one day we will be moving on. I like to share my travel stories with readers to encourage them to explore, step out of their comfort zone and become more familiar with the culture, the people and the land they are guests of.

We finally had a weekend away, like really away. We caught a boat, went across the ocean to an island and stayed in a lovely resort on the beach. It was fantastic!
It was Adventure Saturday and we headed out to Rizel Province to the Daranak Falls. On the way we discovered some awesome caves too.
We went on a day trip with a friend out to Antipolo in the Province of Rizel. It was great. We found a waterfall and a gorgeous art museum.
I did it. I got my drivers license to drive over here in Manila…
I just needed to escape. Get away from the city and reenergise. I thought I had found a perfect escape. It didn’t quite turn out that way. At least the sun was shining though.
I was invited along to the menu launch at La Piadina, Makati. We had a great night with lovely food.
We just brought a car and the first task on our list was a road trip. Let’s just get in the car and drive.
It was our ‘exploring the markets’ day and we went for a trip to the Cabao Farmers Market. Definitely the best wet market I have been to here.
I am feeling settled now, like I know what I am doing here. I know how to find things, I understand how this place works a bit better. It is time to get back to business at home. The kids and I have been doing some craft, we have been to a museum and I have tackled getting my toddler off her dummy.
