Expat life is not always easy, but it is always an adventure. Making the choice to live in another country, another culture is brave and wonderful. It can also be very stressful, lonely, sad and heartbreaking. One thing is for sure, once you become an expat you change.
Saying goodbye is hard to do. It helps to put a ritual in place to mark the ending and the beginning of a new phase.
It took me a while to realise the children needed me to just stop. They needed a break from the chaos of packing up the house. They needed time to adjust.
It was time to get our injections. This was not a fun experience and I felt like the worst mother in the universe.
This week was so busy and during the busy, we got confirmation it was real. That we were leaving. It hit hard.
This is a love letter to my friends, on the eve of leaving. How I will miss you.
