Finding our way
It is Easter and most of Manila shuts down during these few days. It is a good time for reflection and just taking some time out to catch our breath.
Expat life is not always easy, but it is always an adventure. Making the choice to live in another country, another culture is brave and wonderful. It can also be very stressful, lonely, sad and heartbreaking. One thing is for sure, once you become an expat you change.

Today I have not had any internet in our house. All day. Not a bit. How am I feeling about
This second week in our new home has been so hard. I feel isolated, lonely and uncertain. At the end though, I still manage to find some sparkles of light, which bring me hope that things will get better.
It isn’t just the constant busy-ness making us exhausted. This place is sensory overload. You just don’t get a break from it. It will take time to adjust. The first week has been filled with enough activity for a month and despite the exhaustion, we are loving it.
OK, we are not in Kansas anymore Toto…trying to get a house organised over here is not quite as easy as back home. In fact, nothing here is easy as I am just beginning to find out…

The first few days in Manila have been challenging. Working against the clock to get things organised. We are tired, the children are getting stressed and culture shock is setting in.
In our last night in our home, it is time to reflect, to remember and to prepare for what lies ahead.
It’s our last few days before we move overseas. We are excited, exhausted and doing last minute visits to our favourite places, to say our last goodbye’s.
